(0.7967)   My wife's breast cancer is now in her brain; she has lots of cancer-covered cysts and one tumor. We are told gamma knife is for discrete tumors only. Why? We read that gamma knife can zap bad parts of the brain with pinpoint accuracy. Any hope?

(0.7967)   I have metastatic brain tumors stemming from breast cancer. I have 7 very small spots. I had a whole brain MRI and started full brain radiation. It will go for 10 business days. I could not have stereotactic surgery because I have more than 3 spots. All spots are very small and in the cerebrium and cerebellum; none in brain stem. If I did nothing, I was told I had a month. Am I doing the right thing now? What are my best chances for quality of life? How long can I expect to survive? I read from 5 to 12 months. What else can you tell me? What else should I seek from my doctors? I am continuing on Herceptin but no chemotherapy until radiation is over. Since I was diagnosed with stage IV, I never had breast surgery. It was in my lungs at first; then in my bones and now my brain. No sign of it in my breast thanks to chemotherapy: adriomyacin and cytoxin, then taxol, now I am on navelbine. What chemotherapy should I return to when this is over?

(0.7967)   Her radiologist just told my 46-year-old wife that she has 3-4 months to live, or maybe a year if she does WBR. She has metastatic brain tumors (masectomy two years ago). When her first brain tumors were diagnosed (there were 10), they were gamma-knifed. Four months later, she was diagnosed with 18. The radiologist gamma-knifed the five largest only. Is this diagnoses the only option?

(0.7742)   My wife has a metastatic brain tumor (breast). She has undergone 3 gamma knife operations, but the mets kept growing. Because of complications with radiation for lung mets, she opted not to do WBR. Instead, her oncologist put her on Temodar, 120 mg. daily, unlike the normal 5 days per 28 day cycle. She is going on 3 months now, seems stable though no MRIs have been done. Originally, she was given 3-4 months to live. Can we expect a much longer span? Are we doing the right thing with this procedure?
